“If you are going to get anywhere in life, you are going to have to read a lot of books” said Roald Dahl. Well, these two new Roald Dahl books are a great place to start your children on a lifelong journey of liaisons with literature.
From an early age both Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake inspired me; I’m an artist and I’m a keen choral communicator whose second passion lies in penning poems and jotting ditties! Just re-seeing these images for the first time in a while is invigorating me to be more creative. If they can reactivate my imagination just imagine what they can do for kids!
Released today, by Puffin Books, in time for some fun Fathers Day reading time, are two new books specifically designed for babies and toddlers. They star the much loved “Enormous Crocodile” amongst an awesome array of animals illustrated by the line-work legend that is Quentin Blake.
Surprisingly this is actually the first time that Roald Dahl books have been recreated with the very young in mind. Unsurprisingly they have been done spectacularly; it was worth the wait and I feel lucky to be able to show my kids the special world of Dahl sooner than I thought I could.
We’ve already had fun brushing the teeth of the crocodile on these tough stuff board books so if these animated adventures actually help teach my kids to brush their teeth they are worth their weight in gold! Down to the high quality material and build we so far we haven’t torn the flaps off on our search and find missions so thats a plus too! There are words in here that the kids don’t know so these Roald Dahl books present just the right challenge for them. That doesn’t discount other age groups though as the vivid colours, basic number counting or animals would be exciting and educational for even littler ones.
These books are keepers, look great shelved sideways or on display with lush spot varnished fronts, and as with every Roald Dahl book will stand the test of time for sure. We can’t wait to see if Puffin Books will bring out any more! Head that way to find this new range.
DISCLAIMER – Yep, we were posted these two books by Puffin Books but I genuinely want you to know about them as Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake are heroes of mine 🙂
